Hello,

would it be possible that a user can configure which notification quick-actions he wants? Instead of “reply all” and “forward” I would more like to have to possibility to “reply” and “delete” an email. Would be cool if this could be made configurable!

We are looking into adding this, but held off not to add too much in one shot. We do have a concern on adding delete though. Delete as much as it makes sense, is complex in MailDroid. It is not just delete. It is, delete from device only, delete from server only, or delete from both. These types of complex action can’t be added into the notification bars. One idea was to have yet another setting different from normal delete for the notifications to choose one only. The problem with that is the fact that we would be adding tons of complex code paths. People would get confused, we would fail integration tests because of the numerous settings and support would just be more difficult.

Why would one want a different behavior for the notification-delete-button than for the other in-app delete-buttons? It should just behave the same as the delete button in the read email dialog.

Consider that the delete button has the prompt option come up asking delete from device or from both. By default, that is how it works, unless you turn it off (prompt for delete under settings). How would that be supported in this case?

I see, must have disabled this ages ago (I always delete on both).
If you do find the priority to implement this though and if the pop-up is too much hassle I’d suggest an option “add delete button in notifications” with a selection of
– no
– delete on device
– delete on server
– delete on both

Another possibility would be to let the user populate the notification with a selection of various buttons (as you already allow for the swipe left action in the emails listing) that includes buttons for above variations.
They then could even be extended to “reply to all” or “move to archive” right from the notifications.

I think Einstein once said that there are two things that are limitless: The universe and user wishes. 🙂
